I studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and am currently living and working in the Falkland Islands, with my husband who is a seabird biologist. Together, we have spent many years living on islands in South Africa and The Falklands, and I have found the wild and spectacular environments of islands have been a great source of inspiration in my art and continue to find island-life fascinating and invigorating.
I am inspired by the beauty and diversity of the natural world, and am passionate about translating this into fresh and innovative art. I use a range of media and techniques in my artwork, from loose and colourful pen and ink artwork, to detailed technical drawings, scraperboard, linocuts, oil-on-canvas paintings and sculptures. I have held several solo exhibitions in South Africa, and have also participated in a number of group exhibitions.
My illustrations have been published in many natural history guide-books, as well as educational and children’s story-books. I have also been commissioned to create illustrations for the advertising industry.
I am currently working on new paintings inspired by my immediate environment with all its diversity and colour and its inspirational, ever-changing quality of light.
My series of linocut prints and greeting cards depicting the wildlife and beauty of the South Atlantic are available for sale online. I regularly undertake painting commissions, so please contact me if you would like to discuss a commission. |
